INTERNATIONAL REPORT—The $1.6-billion Atlantis Sanya, the first of its kind in China, is among three new openings around the globe.

Atlantis Sanya

The $1.6-billion Atlantis Sanya on China’s Hainan Island recently opened.

Located on the Haitang Bay National Coast, the flagship resort is the first Atlantis resort in China, joining the flagship Atlantis, The Palm in Dubai; other notable resorts for the company, The Royal Atlantis Resort & Residences in Dubai and Atlantis, Ko Olina in Hawaii, are both currently in development.

Atlantis Sanya has 1,314 guestrooms, including 154 suites, five of which are underwater suites, and is situated on more than 5.8 million sq. ft. of land. The resort offers the Aquaventure Waterpark; The Lost Chambers Aquarium, which spans two floors, alongside the exotic marine creatures that reside there; and a look into the largest open-air aquarium in the world, The Ambassador Lagoon, through a viewing platform.

There are 21 dining choices at the resort with restaurants, cafés, lounges and bars, including the signature Ossiano Underwater Restaurant and Bar, as well as celebrity chef Gordon Ramsay’s Bread Street Kitchen and Bar. The property also has AHAVA spa, boutiques, a conference center and multifunction ballrooms.

The Santa Maria, a Luxury Collection Hotel & Golf Resort, Panama City

The Santa Maria, a Luxury Collection Hotel & Golf Resort, Panama City, is the brand’s sixth property in South America.

Operated by Bristol Hospitality Group, the hotel has 182 guestrooms and suites with authentic Panamanian design elements, including the Guna Yala-inspired traditional Mola blankets to adorn the beds, handmade baskets made by the Embera community and wood mined from the depth of the Gatun Lake. The Santa Maria offers two restaurants, a spa, fitness center and outdoor pool.

Mama Shelter Belgrade

Mama Shelter Belgrade will soon be opening in Serbia’s capital city.

The decor, designed by Jalil Amor, pays homage to the capital’s Ottoman history with kilim rugs on the floors and a palette of matte colors, vintage prints and sofas.

Beyond the 125 guestrooms, guests can spend time on the 5,000-sq.-ft. terrace—with foosball and tennis tables—and partake in Mama’s hospitality, including homemade sorbets and ice creams, as well as wood-fired pizzas.
