NEW YORK— Ian Schrager took sharp issue with the statement released by Rande Gerber about the court proceedings on May 24 regarding the bar at the Paramount Hotel, calling it a “gross misrepresentation” of the situation. According to Schragers lawyers, the lawsuit over the “Whiskey” was “merely a device to delay and deflect attention from a previous suit Schrager filed against Gerber in L.A. for infringement of Schragers trademarked Skybar name.” Schragers lawyer said that the hearing did not change the fact that Schrager, as well as anybody else, is free to use the word Whiskey “wherever and whenever they want.” “I view this whole squabble with Rande Gerber over the Whiskey name as ridiculous and I thought we were past this sort of thing after our last round of litigation,” said Schrager.
