PARSIPPANY, NJ—Wyndham Hotel Group’s Latin America and Caribbean portfolio registered record room growth in the second quarter of 2015. The group added 11 new properties and 1,281 rooms in the region from April to June, which represents an increase of 15% vs. same quarter last year.

During the quarter, Wyndham Hotel Group opened new hotels across its key markets in Latin America and the Caribbean, including Brazil, Mexico, Colombia and Peru, increasing the company’s system size in the region by the end of the second quarter to more than 17,000 rooms across 146 properties.

“We are thrilled with the record growth our brands have experienced in Latin America and the Caribbean in these last few months,” said Paulo Pena, president and managing director for Wyndham Hotel Group in Latin America and the Caribbean. “This unprecedented expansion is a clear testament to the value that business and leisure travelers see in our brands. Additionally, our development throughout the region reflects the strong confidence and ongoing commitment that our local partners have in working with us to bring the quality lodging experience expected of Wyndham hotel brands to their markets and for that, we are grateful.”

Among the hotels that opened in the second quarter of 2015 was the first TRYP by Wyndham hotel in Mexico, which opened in Mexico City in April; the newly constructed Ramada Hotel & Suites Campos dos Goytacazes and Super 8 Caxias do Sul properties in Brazil; Wyndham Costa del Sol Lima in Peru; and Wyndham Garden Barranquilla in Colombia, which opened in June.

The company’s pipeline in the region at the end of the second quarter included 114 hotels representing more than 10,800 rooms. Some of the key new properties expected to open during the rest of the year includes Wyndham Quito Grand Condor in Ecuador, TRYP by Wyndham Isla Verde in Puerto Rico, Howard Johnson Neuquen in Argentina and Ramada Encore in San Luis Potosí, Mexico.
