NEW YORK— NYC & Company, New York Citys marketing and tourism organization, has announced that Jonathan M. Tisch has stepped down as chairman and will leave its board of directors. The chairman/CEO of Loews Hotels has led the tourism organization since May 2002. Tischs resignation is effective immediately and NYC & Co. CEO George Fertitta will serve as interim chairman, according to the organization. The announcement of the leadership change comes on the heels of New York Citys most successful tourism year to date— 46.3 million visitors in 2007. During his tenure as chairman, Tisch helped to expand NYC & Co. into one of the largest tourism and marketing organizations in the world as well as helped to secure an additional $15 million in annual funding for tourism promotion in the city.
