WASHINGTON— A strategic partnership has been formed between the Travel Industry Association of America and the Travel Business Roundtable. The two associations have united in order to bring more clout for the travel industry to Capitol Hill and at the state and local government levels. TIA currently has 2,000 members and represents all components of the travel industry. TBR is a CEO-based organization that also represents all sectors within the travel and tourism industries. Together the organizations will now address the United States’ image on the international stage and how that affects travel to the US. The associations will also focus on passport, visa and immigration reforms that also impact the US travel industry. Chuck Merin, managing director of BKSH & Assoc., and a longtime lobbyist for TBR, will now serve as principal lobbyist for both organizations. Furthermore, TIA’s chief executive and national chair will become a part of TBR’s board, and two TBR members will become a part of TIA’s sustaining member board and executive committee.
