NATIONAL REPORT—Disney’s Grand Californian Hotel & Spa and two Courtyard properties received recent makeovers. Here’s a look at what’s new:
Disney’s Grand Californian Hotel & Spa
New magic enhances Disney’s Grand Californian Hotel & Spa with completely redesigned guestrooms, a refreshed lobby, pool area and the concierge-level lounge. The most extensive refurbishment since the hotel’s 2001 opening elevates the guest experience and brings a contemporary approach to the Arts and Crafts design style of the hotel, according to the company.
Every single element in the redesigned guestrooms is new—from flooring and walls to furnishings and bathrooms. Upon entry, hardwood-inspired flooring transitions into soft, bright-toned carpeting. Linens and pillows are restyled in a bright, white palette and upgraded bathrooms include new fixtures. The room decor features all-new furniture made of quarter-sawn oak, specially designed for each room, as well as California-inspired artwork.
The six-story Great Hall lobby has been upgraded with new, stylish furnishings and design elements. To complement the existing Arts and Crafts motif, new contemporary designs can be found throughout the furniture pieces, upholstery, woodwork and carpeting.
Courtyard Daytona Beach Speedway/Airport
Following the completion of its renovations on Oct. 25, the Courtyard Daytona Beach Speedway/Airport offers upgraded rooms outfitted with new LoungeAround sofas and signature bedding. In-room amenities include flat-panel TVs, moveable ergonomic workstations and complimentary high-speed WiFi.
In addition to new furniture, carpet and wallpaper in all accommodations, the hotel revitalized its public areas, including the lobby and outdoor courtyard. The Bistro has new seating, tables and carpet. In terms of F&B, Starbucks beverages or handcrafted cocktails are available. A 24-hour Market, fire pit area, fitness center and outdoor pool round out the offerings.
Courtyard Tempe Downtown
After a $5-million renovation, the Courtyard Tempe Downtown in Arizona now offers refreshed accommodations in the lobby, dining, meeting and fitness spaces.
The lobby lounge is outfitted with newly added furnishings and artwork. There are also redesigned media pods, complete with contemporary furnishings and personal TVs.
The lobby also offers a revamped restaurant. The Bistro still serves American cuisine, Starbucks coffee and evening cocktails, but has enhanced the dining experience with novel tables, chairs, trendy light fixtures and new flooring and paint.
Other enhancements include new beds, plush carpet and freshly painted walls. Pullout sofas have also been added to accommodate additional guests. There are also mini refrigerators and coffeemakers in the room.
