PRAIA, CAPE VERDE—Developer The Resort Group has broken ground for the first Hilton Hotel here, Cape Verde’s capital and largest city.
The developer’s CEO, Rob Jarrett, joined Cape Verde Prime Minister Jose Maria Neves and President of Praia City Hall Ulisses Correia e Silva, to mark the beginning of construction of Hilton Praia, which is expected to open in 2018 on Santiago Island.
The hotel will offer 201 guestrooms and suites across 15 floors along with extensive meeting and event facilities. It will be built near the city’s diplomatic quarters, government institutions, commercial, finance and residential areas. Nelson Mandela International Airport and the Port of Praia, one of the principle ports of Cape Verde, are nearby.
The project fills a demand for a business hotel in the capital city of Cape Verde, a country which is considered an important trading location for Africa, Europe and the Americas, according to The Resort Group.
