CHARLOTTE, NC—Construction has begun on the 195-suite SpringHill Suites by Marriott in Uptown Charlotte. Located at 311 East 5th St., the SpringHill Suites Charlotte/Uptown will operate as a Marriott franchise, owned and managed by SREE Hotels of Charlotte.

Located adjacent to the Time Warner Cable Arena and eight miles from Charlotte Douglas International Airport, the hotel will offer guests access to The Epicenter and the Charlotte Convention Center.

“We’re delighted that the SpringHill Suites Charlotte/Uptown is the latest addition to our growing number of properties across the United States,” said Loren Nalewanski, VP and global brand manager, SpringHill Suites. “The hotel’s design provides a seamless blend of style and function at an affordable price, and our all-suite offering allows guests enough room to relax and reenergize.”

SREE collaborated with CR architecture + design and Marriott to design a building that reflects the community’s unique character, according to the former. Silver panels are influenced by the nearby arena, while a high gloss mimics the neighboring Lynx Train.

“The hotel site is in a busy urban location, and we are excited to be part of the team bringing it to the active and vibrant center city of Charlotte,” said Pat Rodgers, president and CEO of construction manager, Rodgers Builders, Inc.

Design features include wood accents and bold pops of color influenced by the entertainment district; a full-service bar with the idea of transportation used to drive the design; chandeliers with bike chains; and graphics reminiscent of an old train station flip board.

The hotels suites offer separate living, working and sleeping spaces; a desk with ergonomic chair; a pullout sofa bed and lounge chair; and bathrooms featuring a marble-top vanity. Complimentary WiFi is offered in the hotel’s lobby, and high-speed Internet access is available in every suite.

The hotel also offers business services, same-day dry cleaning, guest laundry facilities, and a fitness center. In the lobby, the Market offers convenient 24/7 access to food and beverages.
