NEW YORK Smith Travel Research (STR), a global leader in lodging industry performance tracking and benchmarking, announced preliminary September 2000 figures for the U.S. lodging industry.

Industry occupancy growth slowed somewhat in September versus August performance.  September RevPar growth continued at a good pace and should be in the 5 6% range when final numbers are reported.  The data suggests that performance in the latter part of September slowed somewhat versus performance earlier in the month.
