CHICAGO Jerry Simmons, general manager of the Hyatt Regency McCormick Place recently received Hyatt Hotels Corp. s 2000 Donald Pritzker Award of Excellence, General Manager of the Year. Scott Miller, president of Hyatt Hotels Corp., made the announcement during the company s General Manager s meeting at the Hyatt Regency Dallas.
Simmons began his career with Hyatt in 1969 as a trainee at Hyatt Regency Atlanta during his off-season as a wide receiver in the NFL. After he concluded his playing career in 1975, he held full-time positions at two Hyatt hotels in California. Simmons became a General Manager for the first time in 1977. He served as the general manager of six Hyatt hotels before being appointed to open the Hyatt Regency Place in 1998. (10/30/00)
