KANSAS CITY, MO— Following a conversion from what was a Clarion hotel, the 374-room Sheraton Kansas City Sports Complex Hotel has opened here. Sage Hospitality bought the asset last year and converted and renovated it at a cost of $22 million. Located across from the Truman Sports Complex, which houses the stadiums for the National Football League’s Kansas City Chiefs and Major League Baseball’s Kansas City Royals, the hotel received upgrades in all its guestrooms, restaurants and public areas during the recent renovation. Next, in the spring of 2008, a new 60,000-square-foot CoCo Key indoor water resort will open at the hotel. The hotel currently features a sports bar and full-service restaurant, 16,000 square feet of meeting space, a business center, an indoor pool, an outdoor pool, a sauna, a whirlpool and a gym. The newly renovated guestrooms offer oversized work desks; 32-inch, LCD, flat-panel televisions; and in-room entertainment programming through the Sheraton brand’s own Scene@Sheraton entertainment package.
