PUEBLA, MEXICO—Rosewood Hotels & Resorts has opened a hotel here, marking the brand’s fourth hotel in Mexico.

The 78-key hotel includes three dining venues, a rooftop bar and pool, a full-service spa and nearly 4,949 sq. ft. of event space. The courtyard houses a 300-year-old chapel which is available to guests as a wedding venue, and a dining room is also available for intimate parties.

All F&B is overseen by Executive Chef Jorge Gonzalez. Pasquinel Bistrot fuses traditional Mexican gastronomy with the French influence of a bistro within an open kitchen format; Café Azul Talavera, accessible from the main street, serves as a streetside café with a selection of small plates, salads, and simple entrees available in a casual setting or on the go; and Bar Los Lavaderos offers a collection of fine liquors and rare spirits in a historic setting. Situated in a 19th century space, the venue overlooks 96 historic stone basins where local women used to meet to socialize and wash their clothes.

The city and people of Puebla are the primary source of inspiration for the hotel’s design, drawing from the art, history and architecture of the region. Housed in a collection of historic buildings from different eras surrounding a private courtyard, the hotel’s design and construction was led by Eric Meza Leines in close collaboration with Wimberly Interiors. In keeping with Rosewood’s A Sense of Place guiding concept, the hotel has furnishings and works from Mexican artists and artisans in a blend of the past and the present and integrates traditional materials and methods, including one of the city’s greatest treasures, Talavera pottery.

Located approximately 75 miles southeast of Mexico City, Puebla is known for its colonial architecture, traditional cuisine and colorful ceramics. The hotel is situated near the zocalo, the city’s cultural, religious and political center.
