LOS ANGELES—On Jan. 25 and 26, during the ALIS Conference here, Shatterproof will be hosting a fundraiser involving rappelling off the pool deck level (26th floor) of the JW Marriott L.A. Live.
Shatterproof is a national organization committed to protecting our loved ones from addiction to illicit and prescription drugs, and alcohol, and ending the stigma and suffering of those affected by this disease. It was formed by Gary Mendell, the chairman of HEI Hotels & Resorts, who lost his son in October 2011 to a near 10-year battle with addiction. Shatterproof has quickly become the leading national organization exclusively dedicated to not only increasing awareness through education, but supporting research dedicated to changing how society will manage addiction going forward.
The companies committed to sponsor include Aimbridge Hospitality, Ashford Hospitality Trust, BHN, Choice Hotels International, Commune Hotels, Destination Hotels, Family of Brian Mendell, FelCor Lodging Trust, Goodwin Procter LLP, HEI Hotels & Resorts, IHG, JLL Hotel & Hospitality Group, LaSalle Hotel Properties, Loews Hotels & Resorts, LW Hospitality Advisors, Marcus Hotels, Marriott Hotels & Resorts, Morgan Stanley, Starwood Hotels & Resorts Worldwide, Inc., Wells Fargo and Wyndham Hotel Group Worldwide.
The following are helping spread the word, and in many cases rappelling: Mark Woodworth, Dan Lesser, Tom Corcoran, Christopher Jordan, Steve Joyce, Kirk Kinsell, Simon Turner, Al Young, Michael Barnello, Ted Darnall, Joel Eisemann, Dave Johnson, Bill Reynolds, Anthony Rutledge, Art Adler, Gary Mendell and Katherine Lugar.
