DES MOINES, IA— Principal Global Investors’ real estate arm, Principal Real Estate Investors, is creating a new hotel investment capability that is designed to further enhance the firm’s current investment platform that traditionally targets retail, office, multifamily and industrial properties. Helping to lead Principal in its hotel endeavors is James Fitzgerald, who was hired by the firm as the managing director of hotel investments. He will be tasked with developing and overseeing all of the company’s equity investment and debt financing activities within the hotel sector. Fitzgerald was previously with REH Capital Partners, which he co-founded and help lead as its executive vp and chief investment officer.
