BANGKOK, THAILAND—ONYX Hospitality Group has restructured key hotel and corporate operations roles in Thailand: Pierre Andre Pelletier and David Cumming have been promoted to VP area general manager South Thailand and Bangkok, respectively.

Both veterans in the hospitality industry, Pelletier has worked for ONYX for more than 20 years and this year will mark Cumming’s 10th anniversary with the group.

Pelletier will be property-based at Amari Phuket as the hotel’s general manager and oversee the group’s other properties in Samui, Krabi and Hua Hin. Pelletier joined Amari in 1993 and most recently served as GM of Amari Watergate Bangkok, where he has been since 2002. In this new role, he will be responsible for instituting smooth operations and safeguarding the international operating standards at each property under his supervision.

Most recently, Cumming served as VP/operational development for the group, where he implemented an efficient operating culture for the pre-opening phase of the group’s new hotels, whilst also supporting operational initiatives from the corporate office, according to the company. With his new role, Cumming will be responsible for ensuring the consolidation of the brand standards throughout the properties under his remit. This position will also see Cumming return to Amari Watergate Bangkok, where he began his ONYX career, this time to serve as the property’s GM.

As part of this restructuring, both positions will also oversee future hotel openings in their respective regions and will report to Douglas Martell, the recently appointed EVP/COO.
