NEW YORK Doughty Hanson & Co., a private equity firm, is preparing an offer for Granada Compass Group Plc s hotel unit, which may be valued at 3 billion pounds, or $4.3 billion, Sunday Business said without citing sources.

Doughty Hanson is expected to be one of up to a dozen parties submitting bids for the unit, which includes Le Meridien and Posthouse hotel chains, the paper said. Other potential buyers include Nomura International Plc, Blackstone Group, an investment bank, Marriott International and Starwood Hotels and Resorts Worldwide, Sunday Business reported. (11/20/00)
