NATIONAL REPORT—Hotel Business is tracking a spate of U.S. hotel openings and properties soon to open. Here’s a look at what’s new:
Tru by Hilton Las Vegas Airport
Tru by Hilton Las Vegas Airport has opened, marking a number of milestones for the brand, including its eighth U.S. hotel, its largest location, and its westernmost property to-date.
Managed by Dallas-based Prism Hotels & Resorts, Tru by Hilton Las Vegas Airport is located less than three miles from the Vegas Strip. With more than 470 hotels in various stages of development, Tru by Hilton has achieved the fastest-growing pipeline in the history of the hospitality industry, according to the brand.
Owned by the United Brotherhood of Carpenters, the six-floor, 166-room hotel is located at 6862 Gilespie St., next to the McCarran International Airport. Among the amenities include a 24-hour complimentary shuttle with stops at the airport and the Strip.
Moxy Chicago Downtown
Moxy Hotels will debut its first property in Chicago—and the first in the Midwest—in spring 2018. White Lodging will operate the Moxy Chicago Downtown, which it’s developing in the River North area in partnership with Friedman Properties.
The property will have a distinctive F&B concept with a food-truck inspired walk-up window outside, and inside will feature a coffeehouse by day and bar and bites concept in the afternoon and evening.
Its 156 bedrooms will be outfitted with platform beds, peg walls instead of closets for flexibility, motion sensor lighting, 49-in. LED TVs, ample power and USB outlets, and free WiFi.
Fairfield Inn & Suites Fort Smith
The 94-room Fairfield Inn & Suites Fort Smith in Forth Smith, AR, is now open with its upgraded public space and guestroom design. Located at 7601 Phoenix Ave., the hotel will operate as a Marriott franchise, developed, owned and managed by G&G Hospitality LLC of Little Rock, AR.
The new decor package is warm, timeless, forward thinking and inviting with simple nods back to the brand’s heritage. Specific elements meant to evoke feelings from the Fairfield Farm include a farmhouse table in the lobby for gathering and connecting, photography from the Fairfield Farm serving as artwork in the lobby and guestrooms, natural materials and distinctive textures featured throughout, and a history wall in every property showcasing the brand’s roots.
Hotel Indigo Kansas City Downtown
Hotel Indigo Kansas City Downtown has opened, marking the brand’s 50th property in the U.S. and Mexico.
This new property is the historic Brookfield Building, originally the Santa Fe Railroad ticketing office built in 1929, which has been vacant for a decade. The property will include 118 hotel rooms and 1,100 sq. ft. of board and meeting room space.
Reminiscent of the Art Deco era with a transportation design theme, the property is decorated with enlarged reproductions on guestroom walls of travel-related postcards and postmarks. Each hotel floor includes a different mural, including a train mural planned for the ground floor. The bar in the hotel’s restaurant is designed to resemble the old Santa Fe ticketing counter that used to be in the building.
