NEW YORK NH Hoteles, the Spanish hotel group, is reported to be considering a takeover of the privately owned Mexican hotel chain Krystal, for around Euro 60 million. According to a spokesperson, discussions have taken place but no agreement has been made. NH Hoteles, which recently acquired the Dutch hotel group Krasnapolsky in a friendly all-share swap worth Euro 495 million, is understood to be looking to expand further. Opportunities in Latin America are being explored, although no decision has been confirmed by the company concerning expansion in Mexico. Krystal owns seven hotels in Mexico, totaling some 1,500 rooms. (12/8/00) SOURCE: HVS International
