DAYTONA BEACH SHORES, FL— The Shores Resort & Spa here has added to its management team as it prepares for its relaunch following a $30 million renovation. Verdell Ekberg has joined the 212-room hotel as director of marketing. A 20-year hospitality industry veteran, Ekberg most recently served as regional director of sales and marketing for the Procaccianti Hotel Group. He has also served as corporate director of sales and revenue management for Interstate Hotels & Resorts and director of sales and marketing at New York’s Park Central Hotel. Verdell will work with director of sales Sherilee Stoudt, who has been with the resort since June 2001. Stacy Martin will continue as general manager of the resort, a position she has held for four years. The resort, a member of Noble House Hotels & Resorts, is undergoing a major refurbishment that will renovate all guestrooms, public spaces, meeting space and the pool deck. Additionally, the resort will have a new SpaTerre, the signature spa of Noble House, and a Baleen Restaurant, the signature fine dining brand of Noble House. The renovation is slated for completion this summer.
