MYSTIC, CT— HOTEL BUSINESS® has learned the 183-room Mystic Hilton will undergo a $750,000 renovation to enhance its venues used for social and corporate events, as well as its suites, mini-suites and lounge. According to Barbara Juselis, project designer with Hartford, CT-based architectural firm Du Bose Associates, the approach incorporates existing design features, coordinating style and color with adjacent areas. “Formality was the key to the ballroom design, but with enough flexiblilty so that the rooms would work as well for weddings and banquets as they would for meetings or conferences.” Upgrades to conference suites with enhance decor and function. “We’re added ergonomic chairs to increase the comfort of meeting guests,” said David Labbe, director/sales and marketing. “People who are attending a full day of meetings can stay more productive if they’re in an ergonomic chair, which can be adjusted to their personal preference.” The property is owned by the Mashantucket Pequot Tribal Nation and managed by the Pequot Hotel Group.—Stefani C.
