MAUI—Montage Hotels & Resorts has opened Montage Kapalua Bay here.
Following a $15-million renovation of the former Residences at Kapalua Bay, the all-suite resort features 50 residential-style suites, the signature Cane & Canoe restaurant and the Spa Montage Kapalua Bay.
The guest suites at Montage Kapalua Bay range from one to four bedrooms, balconies in each room, a new color palate, daybeds on the balconies and kitchens where Montage chefs may prepare dinners for guests. Additionally, the suites offer signature Montage bedding, a living area with a sectional sofa and additional bed, and a washer and dryer. Each suite also features an original piece of hand-painted local artwork.
Cane & Canoe restaurant evokes the atmosphere of a traditional Hawaiian canoe house. Riko Bartolome serves as executive chef. The interiors of the venue feature wood scrollwork, woven textures and floral touches, as well as sofa banquettes.
The outdoor Sunset Patio offers an all-day dining menu for poolside dining, adjacent to the Hana Hou bar.
The new Mahana Market offers Hawaiian gourmet goods and guests can select from an assortment of “gourmet to go” local organic foods and curated wines.
The mountain- and ocean-inspired Spa Montage Kapalua Bay, designed with natural materials, features 30,000 sq. ft. Indigenous plants adorn the spa, and therapists utilize indigenous ingredients.
Additional amenities include a cascading pool with circular daybeds surrounding it, signature Panama Jack bikes and cultural programs developed by the resort’s onsite cultural ambassador, Silla Kaina, which aim to educate guests about native Hawaiian customs with hula dance lessons and interpretation, lei making and “Talk Story” sessions, ukulele lessons and spa rituals.
