NEW YORK—The Loews Regency Hotel in Midtown Manhattan is set to reopen on Thursday, Jan. 16, following a yearlong, $100-million transformation.

Jonathan Nehmer + Associates (JN+A) provided the architecture for the entire renovation, including all public areas, back of house, spa, 379 guestrooms including 58 suites and new food and beverage outlets. Interior designers for the project were Rottet Studio (lobby and guestrooms) and Meyer Davis Studio (restaurant and salon).

“We are extremely pleased to be part of the hotel’s stunning transformation,” said Jonathan C. Nehmer, AIA, ISHC, president of JN+A.  “Loews Regency Hotel is an iconic institute in the New York hotel landscape.  This comprehensive renovation is a shining example of how to create a unique experience to better serve the needs of the guest.”

The hotel now features 328 apartment-styled guestrooms and 58 suites boasting crisp lines and a fresh aesthetic, according to the company, as well as four private meeting spaces equipped with state-of-the-art technology, and The Regency Bar & Grill serving lunch, dinner and the return of the Power Breakfast. The new Julien Farel Restore Salon & Spa flagship will open in March 2014.

Blending modern design with clean and classic style, the 24-ft. high ceiling provides a grand entrance to the lobby. Designed by Rottet Studio, the lobby offers a grand marble entrance with bespoke finishes and an urban sophisticated neutral palette. The Lobby Lounge area has velvet sofas, power and hardline internet outlets, and sits under an art installation by Brooklyn-based artist Nina Helms called Brise de printemps (spring breeze).

Loews Regency’s guestrooms, also designed by Rottet Studio, feature Frette linens and bathrobes, smart televisions and complimentary high-speed internet access.  Additionally, Loews Regency will debut six signature suites in spring 2014.

The Regency Bar & Grill is a new restaurant and dining concept managed by New York restaurateurs Gherardo Guarducci and Dimitri Pauli of the Sant Ambroeus Hospitality Group, and helmed by Executive Chef Dan Silverman, whose resume includes The Standard Grill and Union Square Cafe. Designed by Meyer Davis Studio Inc., the restaurant encompasses a 135-seat dining room and a 32-seat full-service bar and lounge. Sant Ambroeus at The Regency is a Milanese style coffee bar with a separate entrance on 61st Street.

The 1,700-sq.-ft. fitness center will feature cardiovascular and strengthening equipment, as well as spin bikes and elliptical machines.  The fitness center will be available 24 hours a day for all hotel guests and appointments for private health assessments, personal trainers and nutrition can be arranged through the hotel concierge.

Loews Regency Hotel is owned and managed by Loews Hotels & Resorts.
