SPOKANE, WA The Hotel Lusso and Kempis Hotel Suites are joining forces to better market themselves to hotel guests. The two boutique hotels will be managed and marketed by a new company, Luxury Hospitality Corp., owned by Hotel Lusso owner Joe Dinnison.
Michael and Sarah Michalko will continue to own the Kempis, which had been struggling to keep its occupancy level up, with most nights hovering a little over 50% occupancy. Under Luxury Hospitality Corp.s management and marketing umbrella, Michalko said he expects 70% average occupancy.
On the flip side, Hotel Lusso has been completely booked with business travelers Monday through Thursday most weeks, said Doug Griepp, the hotels director of sales and marketing. Now the hotel can also refer guests to the Kempis.
In addition, he said, Luxury Hospitality Corp. will be able to market the two hotels to the customers they best suit.
Griepp said Luxury Hospitality also is negotiating to bring other Northwest hotels under its management and marketing wing.
In addition to working under the new company, Hotel Lusso has also severed its relationship with WestCoast Hotels to enter into a reservation agreement with Small Luxury Hotels of the World. (9/18/00)
