LOS ANGELES—InterContinental Los Angeles Downtown hotel, which is part of the Wilshire Grand development in downtown here, celebrated its topping off on March 8.
Expected to open mid-2017, the InterContinental Downtown Los Angeles hotel will have 900 guestrooms, making it the largest InterContinental hotel in the Americas upon completion. Standing 1,100 ft. and 73-stories tall, this hotel will be the first hotel on the West Coast to offer a sky lobby, according to InterContinental Hotels Group (IHG).
The lobby, located on the 70th floor, will offer 360-degree views of the city. Additionally, the inside of the hotel will feature natural wood and warm colors to reflect the city’s beach culture while the hotel’s sky lobby will incorporate Los Angeles’ car culture into the design through abstract representations of car lines into the internal paneling and decor, according to IHG.
The hotel is owned by Korean Air and is the first hotel of any brand it has built in the U.S.
