LOS ANGELES—There appears to be a hotel boom in the City of Angels, with brands like IHG and Hilton setting up shop with distinctive properties. Here’s a look at three openings:
InterContinental Los Angeles Downtown
The InterContinental Los Angeles Downtown has opened, rising to the skyline at 1,100 ft. and 73 stories. Located on the 70th floor, the brand touts the lobby as the city’s first sky lobby with views of the city.
The InterContinental hotel is part of the billion-dollar Wilshire Grand Center in the epicenter of downtown Los Angeles’ historic financial and arts district, and is proximate to the Staples Center and L.A. Live.
The flagship property is part of IHG’s westward expansion and overall growth across the portfolio as the largest InterContinental property in the Americas. Eight hundred and eighty-nine guestrooms stretch from the 31st floor to the 70th floor.
The InterContinental hotel is the first LEED Gold-Certified building for design and construction in the downtown area, according to the brand.
Elie Maalouf, CEO of InterContinental Hotels Group, the Americas, said, “This is a historic moment for the InterContinental brand as we open the largest hotel in the Americas region and redefine the Los Angeles skyline, brought to life through our partnership with Korean Air and Hanjin International Corporation on this new marquee hotel.”
Homewood Suites by Hilton Los Angeles International Airport and H Hotel Los Angeles, Curio Collection by Hilton
A dual-branded Homewood Suites by Hilton Los Angeles International Airport and H Hotel Los Angeles, Curio Collection by Hilton has opened.
Located less than a mile from Los Angeles International Airport (LAX), the new hotel brings 290 rooms to the city. The property is the first hotel in Los Angeles for both brands and Homewood Suites’ fourth in Los Angeles County. The opening also adds to the growing number of multi-brand hotels Hilton currently has open or in the pipeline throughout the U.S., Canada, Mexico, South America, Europe and the Middle East to better serve both travelers and developers.
“Los Angeles’ tourism has seen consistent growth, and with last year’s record-breaking numbers, Hilton could not open this dual-brand hotel at a better time,” added Bill Duncan, global head of the All Suites brands by Hilton.
Developed and owned by SVI Airport LLC and managed by Interstate Hotels & Resorts, the property is located at 6151 West Century Blvd., less than a mile from LAX. Among the amenities is a complimentary 24-hour airport shuttle service as well as car rentals from MCar Rental.
The dual-brand concept creates larger and enhanced communal areas and amenities than what would be standard at a stand-alone property, according to the brand. The hotel has a mix of distinct offerings, including two diverse 24-hour fitness centers, a shared outdoor pool. There is also 1,800 sq. ft. of flexible meeting space.
H Hotel Los Angeles will provide high-end accommodations, such as eight pieces of art that were specifically commissioned for the hotel, as well as guestroom amenities like Nespresso machines, Temple Spa bath amenities, and Google Chromecast on every TV.
