MIAMI—InterContinental Hotels Group (IHG) has signed the Holiday Inn Express Asuncion Aviadores hotel, the first Holiday Inn Express hotel in Paraguay. The new-build, 120-room hotel will be centrally located in Paraguay’s capital city of Asuncion, and joins IHG’s Crowne Plaza Asuncion hotel, already open in Paraguay.
Jorge Apaez, COO, Mexico, Latin America and Caribbean, IHG said, “Paraguay is one of the fastest-growing economies in Latin America, making this the ideal time to grow the IHG portfolio in the country.”
Expected to be open by the end of 2018, the hotel will be in close proximity to the World Trade Center Asuncion, Shopping del Sol and Paseo La Galeria. The hotel will also be situated 15 minutes from the Silvio Pettrossi International Airport.
The hotel will be located in the Aviadores area of Asuncion, which is home to a number of international embassies and businesses and is emerging as the up-and-coming commercial and entertainment district of the capital city, according to IHG. Asuncion is the largest and oldest city in the country and is home to Paraguay’s stock exchange, Bolsa de Valores y Productos de Asuncion (BVPASA), as well as several cultural and entertainment venues.
The hotel will be owned and managed by Ventura Inversiones S.A.
