MCLEAN, VA—Hilton Worldwide has signed a management agreement with Grupo Rahal to operate a new build 120-room Hilton Garden Inn hotel in Ciudad del Este, Paraguay—the country’s second largest city situated on the Paraná River and triple border with Argentina and Brazil. The property is scheduled for construction to start later this year and open at the beginning of 2020.

“Our growth strategy in Latin America stays on course as we continue to expand with new deals signed in key markets throughout the region,” said Eduardo Rodriguez Suarez, managing director, development, Brazil and the Southern Cone Region, Hilton Worldwide. “We are always looking for the right opportunities to introduce our award-winning brands throughout Latin America, and are proud to be bringing the Hilton Garden Inn brand to Paraguay with Grupo Rahal as partners.”

The 120-room Hilton Garden Inn Ciudad del Este will be located near Ciudad del Este’s retail and commercial areas, as well as its main corporate area. The property is near the Puente de la Amistad bridge which connects Paraguay to Brazil and the Guaraní International Airport.

“As our Latin America portfolio consistently grows with the continued opening of new hotels throughout the region, we are most excited when a new deal also represents a milestone—the first for a brand in a new country,” said Tom Potter, SVP, Latin America and the Caribbean, Hilton Worldwide. “This first Hilton Garden Inn hotel in Paraguay reinforces our efforts and furthers our momentum in Latin America, where we currently have more than 90 hotels open and welcoming travelers.”

Designed by BMA, an architectural firm based in Buenos Aires, Argentina, Hilton Garden Inn Ciudad del Este will bring a striking look and feel to the city, according to the company. The hotel is in a mixed-use complex that houses corporate offices, a shopping center, dining and entertainment. Hotel dining options will include a full-service sky restaurant, a bar and the 24-hour Pavilion Pantry shop with a selection of meals, beverages and snacks.

“Hilton Garden Inn Ciudad del Este will be the perfect addition to our mixed-use development plans, offering an ideal combination of shopping options, dining choices, entertainment and accommodation,” said Maaty Rahal, president, Grupo Rahal. “We look forward to working with such a renowned hospitality pioneer and benefiting from Hilton’s 96 years of industry leading experience.”
