WAIKIKI, HI Hilton Hawaiian Village is taking wellness to the next level. The property will be the site of Hawaii s first holistic wellness and prevention center to incorporate a 3-D diagnostic body scanner. It is the first resort in the world to have such a component.
Holistica Hawaii opens to guests October 24 in the Alii Tower on the resort s campus with a $2 million centerpiece known as an electron beam tomography (EBT) scanner. With 3-D ultrasound detection, the EBT offers very rapid, non-invasive testing to map such conditions as cardiac disease, tendency toward stroke or pre-cancerous conditions. The FDA-approved technology is focused on prevention and promoting wellness, and will be synergistically integrated with the Hilton s new Madera Spa coming on line in 2001. Dr. John Klock serves as chairman of Holistica Hawaii, which will have board-certified physicians on staff.
Next spring, Holistica will relocate to Hilton s new Kalia Tower, which is under construction and scheduled to open in May. Holistica will offer a seven-day residential program that starts with a day of diagnostic testing and continues with a week of spa, fitness and lifestyle modification activities.
