Harris Pillow Supply To Exhibit Its ‘Pillow-Vac’

NEW YORK— While Harris Pillow Supply will have its eight different varieties of high-end pillows on display here at the International Hotel/Motel & Restaurant Show, it will also be exhibiting its unique pillow-renovating machine called the Pillow-Vac that is designed to clean pillows.
“It is a unique machine that a number of hotels and resorts now have in order to keep their pillows in circulation longer,” explained John Harris, president of Beaufort, SC-based Harris Pillow Supply. “We’re the only company in the world that makes this machine.”

The Pillow Renovator

Harris further noted that the machine uses an ozone-emitting germicidal light to kill pillow bacteria and sanitize and deodorize pillow filling. This is done by cutting open an old pillow and emptying it into the machine’s tumble chamber, which features rotating brushes and fluffs up down clusters and sifts out the dust. If the machine cleans a feather or down pillow, new filling can be added to make the pillow more dense. At the end of the machine’s cycle, all of the filling is blown back into a 100% cotton feather and down proof ticking, Harris said.
Harris Pillow Supply also will offer show attendees a look at its line of feather, down and synthetic pillows. These pillows include the Gold Label pillow, which comes in a white cotton ticking that’s filled with a hollow, siliconized, polyester cluster fiber. The Gold Label is also non-allergenic and washable.

Goose Down’s Comeback

Harris Pillow Supply will also be showcasing its Synthetic Down pillow, which is also non-allergenic and contains polyester fibers within a 200-thread-count ticking, and its Natural Goose Down & Goose Feather pillows and Down Around or Chamber pillows. The goose down and goose feather pillows contain European goose down that’s mixed with small goose feathers. The Down Around pillows consist of an inner sewn chamber that’s filled with 90% small goose feathers and 10% goose down.
“There’s been a surge of interest back toward goose down and goose feather natural pillows because of the comfort they provide hotels’ guests,” Harris added, while noting that this is the first year his company will exhibit at the IH/M&RS.
