DALLAS— The Grand Hyatt DFW opened on July 1 with a ribbon-cutting ceremony and a celebration with a patriotic theme. The 12-story, 298-room hotel adjoins the new International Terminal D at Dallas/Fort Worth International Airport. The new hotel is the first Grand Hyatt to be located at an airport and the first to be built in Texas. It is also part of the first major international expansion at DFW since 1974. DFW International Airport owns the hotel and Hyatt Hotels Corp. manages the property. In recognition of the hotel’s opening during the Fourth of July weekend, the event included participation by U.S. military personnel and began with a presentation of colors, the national anthem and a donation in the amount of “one grand” ($1,000) to the USO. The program included a ribbon-cutting and remarks by Retired Admiral Jim Lair; Tim Lindgren, senior vp, Hyatt Hotels Corp.; James Crites, executive vp of operations, DFW International Airport; and George Vizer, general manager of the Grand Hyatt DFW. The 303,675-square-foot hotel features ballroom, banquet and meeting space; a restaurant; lounge; coffee bar; rooftop heated swimming pool; and fitness center with spa treatment rooms.
