Former USFS President’s Firm Adds Casual Restaurant Chain

ATLANTA— Private equity firm Roark Capital Group has acquired casual restaurant chain Schlotzskys Ltd., which has approximately 365 franchise and company-owned locations. As part of the deal, Schlotzskys will be a wholly-owned subsidiary of Focus Brands, Inc., of which former U.S Franchise Systems president Steve Romaniello is the president and CEO. Focus, which is owned by affiliates of Roark Capital Group, is the franchisor and operator of Carvel, Cinnabon, and Seattles Best Coffee.
