DEERFIELD BEACH, FL EXA International, Inc. announced that it has agreed in principal to a joint venture with the owners of a 24,500-ton, 624-foot luxury vessel to create a new vacation concept, which they are calling Cruiseshares .

The initial ship, to be called Romance II, will be refitted and refurbished, then sold as a time share, offering the sale of cabins for $7,500-to-16,000, for at least 20 years of annual 7-day cruises.

Romance II is the first in a planned fleet of seven cruise ships for the Romance Cruise Line. The hopes to offer cabin owners a competitive alternative to either traditional timeshare ownership or an individually purchased luxury cruise. (8/21/00)
