DECATUR, AL—The DoubleTree by Hilton Decatur Riverfront, a five-story, 165-room hotel, has opened here, 14 miles from Huntsville International Airport. Formerly a Garden Plaza hotel, the property closed in November 2014 to complete a $10-million transformation and reopens this month to debut a total redesign of the exterior and lobby, fully-updated guestrooms and suites, all new furniture throughout the hotel, updated and expanded meeting spaces and a renovated atrium. DoubleTree by Hilton Decatur Riverfront is owned and managed by Cooper Hotels.
“With its amazing transformation and ideal setting on the banks of the Tennessee River and Steamboat Memorial Bridge, DoubleTree by Hilton Decatur Riverfront is poised to become the leading hotel destination for guests seeking full-service accommodations and the award-winning service experience for which the DoubleTree by Hilton brand is known,” said John Greenleaf, global head, DoubleTree by Hilton. “As the largest and only full-service hotel in Decatur, AL, we look forward to welcoming guests to this beautiful property and delivering the ‘little things’ that create a rewarding travel experience.”
Guestrooms feature all-modern conveniences, including in-room safes and mini refrigerators. Many of the rooms also offer views of the river. Complimentary amenities at the hotel include the newly updated indoor/outdoor pool and sun deck, 24-hour fitness center, 24-hour business center and complimentary WiFi throughout the hotel’s public areas and guestrooms.
The property also debuts a new dining concept: Twist Grill & Bar, located by the lobby and open for breakfast, lunch and dinner. Room service is also available for guests seeking the convenience of in-room dining, while the new Starbucks Kiosk is open each morning in the hotel’s lobby.
“A number of large corporations and local companies, as well as attractions such as the U.S. Space & Rocket Center, Wheeler National Wildlife Refuge and Point Mallard Park can be found near our historic town, making it the quintessential place for both business and leisure travelers,” said Chad Udovich, general manager, DoubleTree by Hilton Decatur Riverfront. “We are proud to be joining DoubleTree by Hilton, a prestigious brand known for its commitment to delivering only the best guest experiences, and we look forward to delivering that same experience to our guests at DoubleTree by Hilton Decatur Riverfront.”
