LAS VEGAS- The 50-year-old Desert Inn, purchased in June by Steve Wynn, closed its doors for good yesterday, August 28- two days earlier than planned, due to a mass exodus of staff.
Wynn bought the Desert Inn for $270 million shortly after stepping down as CEO of Mirage Resorts Inc., which was purchased by MGM Grand in May. The Desert Inn is one of the oldest properties on the Las Vegas Strip. (8/29/00)
