Convention Hotel Questioned In Kansas City

KANSAS CITY Local hospitality experts question the demand for a new downtown convention hotel called for by Kansas City Mayor Kay Barnes. Wayne Chappell, president of the Convention & Visitors Bureau of Greater Kansas City, said his contacts in the hotel business say they dont need more competition. Currently, no construction plans are imminent, a developer/operator has not enlisted, and no financing sources have been identified for a new hotel. (12/7/00)
