BRASELTON, GA— Chateau Élan Winery & Resort announced that a $3 million renovation project is about to get under way. The latest refurbishment follows an initial $2 million remodeling program done five months ago. The aim of the renovation is to achieve a “classy, elegant, more contemporary look” at the 276-room resort, according to Henk Evers, president/CEO of Chateau Élan Hotels & Resorts. During the renovation, 18,000 square feet of atrium flooring will be replaced. According to Evers, the new flooring consists of 36 tons of a rare form of limestone mined in the desert of the Sultanate of Oman (Arabian Peninsula), then fabricated into tiles in Sicily before being shipped here. This particular strain of limestone, only available for the past three years, is non porous, slip resistant and as durable as granite, Evers said. The limestone will be laid in patterns of honed as well as polished tiles. In order to spare guests the noise emanating from the atrium remodeling program, Evers said the resorts 276 guestrooms will be closed from Dec. 15 until Dec. 27. The Versailles restaurant, conference center and atrium will be closed from Dec. 15 and reopen on Jan. 5. All other sections of the resort will remain open including the Spa Mansion with 14 suites, the 12 golf villas, the winery, the Golf Club grille, Chateau and Woodlands golf courses, the tennis center and Paddys Irish Pub. Nearing completion is the installation of new carpeting, soft goods and additional telephone lines for the guestrooms. All atrium furnishings are also being reupholstered. Additionally, a soft goods renovation of the 25,000-square-foot conference center, including draperies for meeting rooms and ballrooms, is on the work agenda. Chateau Élan Winery & Resort is the national flagship property of Chateau Elan Hotels & Resorts, a branded group of luxury hotels and resorts in the United States and abroad.
