Cendant Confirms Baymont Acquisition

PARSIPPANY, NJ— As disclosed by HOTEL BUSINESS, Cendant Hotel Group has confirmed the acquisition of the Baymont Inn & Suites brand and franchising system from affiliates of the Blackstone Group. The price was not disclosed Limited-service Baymont currently has 115 franchised properties. Cendant is not acquiring any real estate as part of this transaction. Blackstone plans to convert the owned Baymont assets to its La Quinta brand. Cendant already owns the franchise rights to a number of limited service brands, including Ramada, Days Inns, and Howard Johnson. In a separate transaction, Cendant last year acquired the Wyndham International franchising system from Blackstone as well.
