Borgata Announces Groundbreaking Celebration

ATLANTIC CITY, NJ The Borgata, a $1 billion joint venture between Boyd Gaming Corp. and MGM Mirage announced its groundbreaking celebration will take on September 21, 2000 at its development site on Huron Avenue in Atlantic City.

Senior officials from both companies will be in attendance, as well as New Jersey Governor Christine Todd Whitman, Atlantic City Mayor James Whelan and several other civic leaders.

The evening event will kick-off the beginning of construction of The Borgata, Atlantic City s first new property in over a decade. Plans for the 40-story development include 2,010 guestrooms, 120,000 square feet of gaming, several specialty restaurants and boutiques, European-style spa and entertainment venues. (9/18/00)
