Apple Leisure Group Signs Two Resort Deals

PHILADELPHIA—AMResorts, a subsidiary of Apple Leisure Group, has signed the company’s first two deals of 2015. AMResorts, which reported 20% growth last year, will expand its portfolio with Secrets Cap Cana Resort & Spa, marking AMResorts’ entry into a new destination in the Dominican Republic.  The company will introduce its Breathless Resorts & Spas brand in the Riviera Maya region of Mexico with Breathless Riviera Cancun Resort & Spa, the second property from AMResorts’ newest brand.

“Continuing the momentum of last year, we are starting 2015 with the announcement of two new resorts in highly desirable markets,” said Alejandro “Alex” Zozaya, CEO of Apple Leisure Group.  “This is directly linked to Apple Leisure Group’s distribution, infrastructure and proven track record to support our expansion and capitalize on the opportunities available in Mexico and the Caribbean.”

Dominican Republic President Danilo Medina and other government officials joined Apple Leisure Group and AMResorts executives for Secrets Cap Cana’s groundbreaking ceremony on Feb. 20.  This will become the 14th resort for the Secrets Resorts & Spas brand. Upon the resort’s opening, AMResorts will have nine properties in the Dominican Republic under five of its brands.

The adults-only Secrets Cap Cana will have 470 rooms and suites, and will be located on Juanillo Beach in the gated, luxury community of Cap Cana.

“Mexico and the Dominican Republic continue to top the list of preferred destinations for North American travelers, creating tremendous opportunity for owners who want to enter the all-inclusive sector,” said Javier Coll, EVP and chief strategy officer of Apple Leisure Group. “A desire for a premium resort with experiential elements in the market led us to create Breathless Resorts & Spas, and it is this innovative thinking that helps us offer diverse options not only to travelers, but to owners as well.”

Earlier this year, company executives joined Mexican government officials to lay the symbolic first stone of the new Breathless Riviera Cancun. Set to open in early 2016, this will be the second resort in the Breathless Resorts & Spas portfolio, and introduces the brand in Mexico following the success of Breathless Punta Cana Resort & Spa.  Breathless Riviera Cancun will feature 500 rooms and suites.

“We hear loud and clear that our guests want more resort options from AMResorts,” said Gonzalo del Peon, President of AMResorts. “Demand drives our expansion, and our new resorts in Cap Cana and Cancun will provide the exciting new offerings our customers seek.”

Guests visiting Secrets Cap Cana and Breathless Riviera Cancun will experience the brands’ Unlimited-Luxury vacation concept, where everything is included: premium accommodations, 24-hour room and concierge services, a limitless gourmet food and beverage program, daily entertainment, world class spa facilities and more, according to the company.
