VIRGINIA BEACH, VA—Alliance Hospitality, a hotel development and management company headquartered in Raleigh, NC, plans to develop a new Home2 Suites hotel here. It will be the first Home2 Suites in the state of Virginia. Alliance will also manage the hotel upon its opening in summer 2016.

Located on the oceanfront boardwalk that lines Virginia Beach the hotel will occupy the site that is now home to the historic Belvedere Hotel, which will be razed when construction begins in August. Developed in 1969, The Belvedere included 50 rooms and, at five stories. The new Home2 Suites will hold 124 rooms. It will feature a diner, sundry shop, breakfast area, fitness center and indoor/outdoor pool.

“The Belvedere Hotel was part of Virginia Beach long before it became a true destination, one that today welcomes over 12.5 million annual visitors,” said Rolf Tweeten, chairman of the board for Alliance Hospitality. “From those early days, the hotel has never wavered from its commitment to excellence. As we redevelop the site to introduce a Home2 Suites to the market, we will do the same as we work to serve the needs of a new generation of travelers and guests.”
