ATLANTA—Portman & Associates, based here, has named Matt Larson as VP of business development.

According to the company, Larson is tasked with expanding the firm’s business and relationships throughout the U.S., with focus on mixed-use, hospitality, office and residential projects.

Larson, who previously served for 10 years as the director of business development for architecture firm Goettsch Partners in Chicago, said: “My belief is that developing cities offer a wider opportunity for growth. My staff and I will be building on recent Portman projects in Denver, San Diego and Atlanta that span adaptive reuse, select service and mixed-use.”

The firm’s vice chairman, Jack Portman, FAIA, concluded: “We have been busy with design work in Asia, specifically in China, for many years, and that has sustained us through the recent recession. But the market here in the U.S. has returned, and we see great potential to further expand our presence here. Matt comes with solid industry experience and a passion for the business. He’s just the guy who can connect the dots and open doors for us.”
