Starwood Unveils SPG App for Google Glass

STAMFORD, CT—Starwood Hotels & Resorts has developed a new SPG app for Google Glass.

The app allows mobile travelers to explore locations and book stays at Starwood’s 1,200 hotels ad resorts, as well as review their SPG account. Starwood’s internal team of tech experts designed and built the app, which is designed to assist travelers in each stage of their journey, from destination exploration to logistics planning. The app is the only app for Google Glass that allows guests to book stays at Starwood’s hotels.

The app takes advantage of Google Glass’ voice command search—as members can voice search any of Starwood’s 1,200 properties by destination, airport code or what is nearby—and geo location. Additionally, it is one of the first apps built on the new Glass Developer kit.

Members can call or get directions to any hotel as well as explore and share photos of the hotel. The app uses state-aware technology to display upcoming stays, recognize arrival at a Starwood location and customize the user experience accordingly.

“Travelers are more tech-savvy than ever before, and wearable technology is the newest platform that provides information in an easy-to-access way to support the needs of our guests and enhance their travel experience,” said Chris Holdren, SVP SPG and Digital for Starwood Hotels & Resorts.
