RIDGELAND, MS— InterContinental Hotels Group reported that ground was recently broken for a 92-room Staybridge Suites Hotel here. The all-suite hotel is expected to open in the second quarter of 2005. The new extended-stay hotel is owned and will be managed by Little Properties, Inc. under a license agreement with a company in the InterContinental Hotels Group. The $8 million Staybridge Suites Jackson-Ridgeland will be the brand’s first in the state of Mississippi, according to Robert Radomski, vp, brand management, Staybridge Suites. It is the fifth Staybridge Suites hotel to break ground this year, he noted, adding that there are 50 more in development. Guests at the new Staybridge Suites property can choose from three suite options (deluxe studio, one-bedroom and two-bedroom/two-bath). All suites feature in-room DVD/CD players; workstations with ergonomic seating; fully equipped kitchens; free high-speed Internet access and two-line speaker phones with voicemail and direct dial access. The new 63,000-square-foot hotel will offer amenities such as complimentary guest laundry and workout facilities; complimentary breakfast buffet; a 24-hour business services center; and an outdoor pool. In addition, a nightly “Sundowner” reception will be held in the hotel’s Great Room. Complimentary shuttle service to and from area businesses will also be available. Currently, there are 77 Staybridge Suites hotels open.
