CHICAGO—The Talbott Hotel, a Joie de Vivre boutique property, will officially re-open in May following a four-month renovation. The historic hotel, originally constructed in 1927, received a full interior renovation by KARA MANN, a Chicago-based interior designer.

The most extensive update in the hotel’s history, improvements were made to 178 guestrooms and suites (increased from 149 keys). All public areas were refreshed with a modern, elegant aesthetic. A fitness center was also added.

A new restaurant from Chef James Keane will feature unique takes on American fare, according to the company.

Originally designed by John Archibald Armstrong, The Talbott blends a European-inspired classic facade with modern amenities. The newly renovated hotel reflects the changes that the neighborhood—home to numerous international fashion brands—has seen over the years, according to the company.

Design details include a neutral palette accented with subtle punctuations of color; traditional materials, such as plaster, milk-painted wood paneling and terrazzo in the ground-floor public spaces; and artwork with a contemporary edge. The reception is adjacent to the concierge for a private check-in experience and features a monolithic reception desk of noble grey and Nero Marquina-veined stone.

The guestrooms offer a mix of modern and traditional elements including a crisp neutral palette with textured wallcovering, white sheer draperies, and a solid, deep ink-colored carpet.
