CHICAGO Grainger, a B2B provider of maintenance, repair and operating (MRO) supplies, has been awarded Wyndham International s national energy-saving lamp conversions project. The project is designed to save energy and related costs for each of the 115 participating hotel properties. The plan is to convert almost 27,000 guestrooms and common areas from incandescent light bulbs to energy-saving, long-lasting compact fluorescent and halogen lamps. The initial phase of the project began on November 13 with on-site surveys conducted by Grainger representatives working in tandem with GE Lighting field personnel. GE, a strategic Grainger supplier, is the sole lamp provider for this project. To date, all hotel locations have been reviewed and a comprehensive lamp order of approximately $2 million in lamp sales is being compiled. Delivery and installation of the lamps is expected to begin in mid-December, with hotel staff replacing all lamps specified in the project. (11/27/00)
