GLOUCESTER, MA—The Beauport Hotel Gloucester recently opened in the area.
The Beauport Hotel is a 94-room boutique hotel overlooking Gloucester Harbor. The building’s design pays homage to the classic seaside hotels that once dotted Gloucester’s coast at the turn of the 19th century, while featuring modern finishes such as copper roofing details, advanced woodworking and a rooftop pool, according to the company. The hotel also features a ballroom, conference center, restaurant and bar, and a parking garage.
Advocating for the project through the early stages of conception and permitting, Windover Construction had a hand in practically every aspect of the hotel’s completion, including budget, design, architecture, scheduling, interiors and more, according to the company.
In terms of the architecture and design of the hotel, Windover recommended copper gambrel roofs and a heavy cedar base, as well as natural cedar siding rather than a “maintenance-free” option in order to maintain a quality and natural look to the building that will weather with time. When it came to the guests’ overall experience, Windover added custom woodworking in guestrooms to improve the look and feel, according to the company. That included crown molding, wood paneling and fireplaces with wood mantels. Finally, they made the decision to triple the size of the bar in order to capitalize on the views of the ocean, and moved the pool from the lower deck to the rooftop.
“We take great pride in developing long-lasting client relationships built on trust, and the owners of the Beauport considered Windover a trusted partner throughout the entire project,” said Lee Dellicker, president and CEO of Windover. “While it’s a rather untraditional approach for a construction company to oversee a project ‘soup to nuts,’ it was important that we made the process as easy as possible.”
