NATIONAL REPORT—In the South, two major brands have recently put shovels in the ground for new hotel projects—Virgin Hotels and Tru by Hilton. Here’s a look at new-builds in the works:

Virgin Hotels Nashville

A new lifestyle hotel is slated to open on Music Row in 2019. Virgin Hotels has broke ground with The Buccini/Pollin Group and BPGS Construction on Virgin Hotels Nashville. It marks the brand’s fourth property currently under construction, behind Virgin Hotels New York City, Virgin Hotels Dallas and Virgin Hotels New Orleans.

Located in the Music Row area of the city at 1 Music Square W, the hotel will have 240 Chambers, including Grand Chamber Suites, and multiple dining and drinking outlets such as the brand’s signature Commons Club, a rooftop and pool, and a speakeasy.

Tru by Hilton Raleigh Durham Airport

Parks Hospitality Group has broken ground on a new Tru by Hilton in Morrisville, NC. The 106-room, four-story hotel will be located at 350 Airgate Dr., less than one mile from the Raleigh-Durham Airport. It is expected to be completed mid-2018. Tru by Hilton Raleigh Durham Airport will be one of the brand’s first hotels to open in the state of North Carolina.

This value proposition continues to drive developer interest as there are currently four hotels open, and a pipeline that could see nearly 10 open by year-end, according to the brand. As of Q2, the Tru by Hilton pipeline includes more than 50 hotels expected to open in 2018.

“Tru is a game-changing brand, as evidenced by its statement-making entrance to the midscale category and now the Raleigh-Durham market,” said Alexandra Jaritz, global head, Tru by Hilton. “We know the brand will have broad appeal to Raleigh-Durham area travelers who span generations but share a similar ‘zest for life’ mindset.”
