NATIONAL REPORT—Hotels are making moves across New England. With brand firsts and new construction, here’s a look at the activity in Massachusetts and Maine:

Aiden by Best Western Opens in Cape Cod, MA
Best Western Hotels & Resorts has opened Aiden by Best Western @ Cape Point in the Cape Cod town of West Yarmouth, MA. This marks the second U.S. property to open as part of the company’s new boutique hotel concept. Each hotel has a multi-functional public area to bring together the work and play, capturing the essence of its locale with enticing and charismatic designs. Managed by Jamsan Hotel Management, the Aiden by Best Western @ Cape Point has a fitness center, meeting and event facilities and an on-site café and bar.

Nauset Constructing Boutique Hotel in Cambridge, MA
Nauset Construction is transforming a historic mixed-use building into a 67-key boutique luxury hotel. Located in Central Square in Cambridge, MA, 907 Main is being developed by Sean Casey LLC and Hay Creek Hotels. The hotel will have a blend of amenities, including two new restaurants, a French bakery and an ice cream shop in its original, newly renovated location. Originally constructed in 1871, the four-story, mixed-use office/residential property was later renovated in 1928 into 12 apartment units with first floor retail space. The brand identity and interiors were created with direction from Hay Creek Hotels and designed by Gensler Boston and Boyes-Watson is the architect of record for the project.

Choice Hotels Breaks Ground on Maine’s First Cambria
Choice Hotels International Inc. and Koucar Management have begun construction on the state’s first Cambria hotel in Portland, ME. Slated to open in 2021, the new-construction, six-story, 102-room hotel will have 2,000 sq. ft. of meeting an event space, a fitness center and food and beverage options. The Cambria Hotel Portland is near the headquarters of Covetrus and WEX Inc. and major area employers, such as Maine Medical Center and Mercy Hospital. The property also has an indoor-outdoor rooftop bar concept, overlooking a garden growing real hops.
