WestCoast Pinpoints Trouble In Salt Lake

SPOKANE, WA- HOTEL BUSINESS has learned that WestCoast Hospitalitys properties in Salt Lake City, UT are suffering from significant drops in both occupancy and RevPAR.

According to Stephen Barbieri, WestCoasts vice president, occupancy is declining overall in the city due to construction in preparation for the upcoming Winter Olympics. Barbieri said the convention center is not being used for citywide conventions, but rather Olympic-related functions, causing a reduction in the number of business travelers coming into the area.
