RICHARDSON, TX—VingCard Elsafe has changed its name to Assa Abloy Hospitality, effective June 1. This new identity allows the company to draw upon the vast resources of Assa Abloy and positions it to better meet the evolving needs of the hospitality industry, according to the company.

“If we’re to remain innovative and competitive, we must keep pace with the demand from our customers for flawless experiences,” said Tim Shea, president of Assa Abbloy Hospitality. “As our brand transitions to Assa Abloy, we will grow stronger and create a bright future for our company and customers. We will build on our legacy, continuing to make people around the world feel safe and secure.”

The company dates back to 1974, when lock engineer Tor Sørnes heard that an intruder had attacked his favorite singer in her hotel room. He resolved to find a solution and invented VingCard. Today, the Assa Abbloy family offers the company access to more than 1,400 engineers and a worldwide network of sales and support teams. According to the company, the goal is to extend its global reach and innovation capabilities beyond hardware, and extend it to encompass a comprehensive array of solutions that are designed to ensure security, convenience and operational efficiency for hotels around the globe.

Assa Abloy Hospitality is part of Assa Abloy’s Global Technologies division.
